Dr. Michael Thiemann

Klaus Schneiders studied construction and industrial engineering at the RWTH Aachen University and began his professional career with Hoechst AG in Frankfurt in 1970. In 1984 he moved to Uhde GmbH, taking over as head of the Environmental Engineering division. In 1990 he was made head of the Electrolysis division before being appointed head of the Technologies division in November 1998. He was appointed to the Executive Board in January 2000, and took over as Chairman with effect from January 1, 2006.

Helmut Knauthe studied mechanical engineering in Darmstadt, Germany, and joined Uhde in 1984. After holding several positions at the company, including head of our subsidiary in Thailand, he became head of the Project Management division in 1998. Before being appointed to the Executive Board with effect from August 1, 2004, he was head of the Organic Chemicals/Polymers division at our branch office in Bad Soden (near Frankfurt, Germany).

Alfred Hoffmann studied mechanical engineering with special focus on thermodynamics at Gerhard Mercator University in Duisburg, Germany, and joined Thyssen Engineering in 1991. After holding various positions within the company he moved to ThyssenKrupp Technologies AG as an engineering controller in 2001 and became a Member of the Executive Board of ThyssenKrupp Belisce d.o.o. in Croatia in 2003. With effect from January 1, 2006, Alfred Hoffmann was appointed to the Executive Board of Uhde GmbH.

Jörg Schönewolf graduated in business management from Justus-Liebig University in Giessen, Germany, in 1988. After finishing university he joined the ThyssenKrupp Group and was appointed managing director of Henschel Industrietechnik GmbH in Kassel in 2000. In 2002 Mr Schönewolf became chairman of the Executive Board for Henschel Industrietechnik GmbH and Henschel Recycling Technik GmbH. At the same time he was responsible for carrying out controlling tasks for other business units and operating groups. He was appointed to the Uhde Executive Board with effect from January 1, 2004.

After studying mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Clausthal, where he majored in tribology and machine kinetics, Mr Lothar Jungemann started at Krupp Polysius AG of Beckum in 1989. Following other posts abroad, he joined Krupp Engineering Asia Pacific Pte Ltd. in Singapore as sales manager in 1996. He returned to Beckum in 1998 and was made head of the Spare Parts Division of Krupp Polysius in 1999. In 2006 he was appointed to the Executive Board of Polysius AG and took charge of the Services Division. With effect from January 1, 2007, Mr Jungemann was appointed to the Executive Board of Uhde GmbH, where he assumed responsibility for the following product divisions: Ammonia & Urea, Hydrogen & Nitrates and Electrolysis.

Dr. Michael Thiemann studied process engineering at the RWTH Aachen University, before completing his doctorate in polymer dispersion in the Department of Chemical Technique at Dortmund University. In 1978 he joined Uhde.

Dr. Thiemann was responsible for commissioning plants built by the internationally active Uhde group in Canada, Greece, Pakistan, India and Germany. He became head of Uhde's process engineering department from 1983 to 1986 before becoming director and head of Technical Division II (Fertilisers) in 1987. In 1994 he was appointed vice-chairman and managing director of Uhde India Ltd., a subsidiary of Uhde based in Mumbai, India, and has been responsible for turning this company into one of India's leading engineering companies. In addition to performing his duties at the company, he was also chairman of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce in Mumbai from 2003 to 2004.

With effect from June 1, 2007, Dr. Michael Thiemann has been appointed to the Executive Board of Uhde GmbH.
