Hydrogen for the production of low-sulphur fuels, nitrate fertilisers to secure food supplies and Uhde's proprietary EnviNOx® process with its important contribution to climate protection - these are just a few examples of what Uhde has done in the past 80 years to improve quality of life. Our success in hydrogen and nitrates is built on our outstanding competence in fertiliser technologies, and our almost exhaustive range of processes for the production of mixed and compound fertilisers has enabled us to serve demand throughout the world. It is Uhde engineers who made the key refinements to reformer technology the core component of hydrogen production plants and now a common feature of ammonia and methanol plants. There is a tradition of customer faith in our trendsetting quality something borne out by over 2000 reference plants worldwide.
In 2006 we set up an independent hydrogen & nitrates division as a core competence, resulting in a focussed strategy on our hydrogen plants and nitrate products. This has paid off in after only a short time with a considerable increase in our market presence, one especially noteworthy example being the combination of our nitric acid technologies with the innovative EnviNOx® process for the abatement of nitrous oxide (N2O), a greenhouse gas. This combination allows our customers to achieve extremely ambitious economic production targets and at the same time meet the most stringent environmental standards.
In addition to hydrogen & nitrates, Uhde's fertiliser technology portfolio also includes leading technologies for the production of ammonia and urea.
